Here you will find all latest news, history and current affairs of the Jat community
and more.
Jat community has long history dated back from 16th Century.
The Jat community was traditionally associated with agriculture in Northern India
and Pakistan. In the beginning of the 18th century, the Jats took up arms against
the Mughal Empire. Gokula, a Hindu Jat landlord, had troubled Aurangzeb. Jats
played an important role in the development of the Khalsa Panth. By the 20th
century, landlord Jats became influential in many parts of North India including
Punjab, Western Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Haryana, Delhi.
Many people of Jat community are in the Indian Army. In which Jat Regiment has
special importance. He has won many highest military awards for bravery and
bravery in the army. The Jats were designated as a 'martial race' by the British
state authorities. Which meant that they were one of the groups that the British
preferred for recruitment into the British Indian Army. There was a beautiful
symmetry in the martial race theory: Indians who were intelligent and educated
were defined as cowards while those who were brave were defined as
uneducated and backward. The Indian Army had admitted in 2013 that the 150
strong presidential bodyguard included only Hindu Jats, Sikh Jats and Hindu
Rajputs.
Chaudhary Charan Singh became the first Jat Prime Minister of India and
Chaudhary Devi Lal became the sixth Deputy Prime Minister of India. That means
Jat community cannot be ignored in Indian politics. Governments also have to
implement schemes keeping their interests in mind. State wise, Jats constitute
about 25 percent of the population in Haryana. In Punjab it is 30 percent, in
Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Delhi it is 9,5 and 2 percent respectively.
